Shehbaz Sharif will PML-N candidate for PM: Shahid Khaqan

KARACHI: Former Prime Minister and central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that whenever there is an election, PML-N will field Shehbaz Sharif as its prime ministerial candidate. Maryam Nawaz is not eligible

It has been general practice that whoever is the party president becomes the prime minister, Shebaz Sharif is the party president and he will be our candidate.

The people of Karachi want to get rid of both the provincial and federal governments. The Sindh government is 13 years old. Delivery is not what it should have been.

PPP getting more votes in the recent by-elections is a threat to democracy. I do not want to say more than that the people will decide in the coming elections.

 In an interview, the former prime minister said that the project inaugurated in Karachi belongs to Nawaz Sharif but there was no need to send Rangers in it, we were not committing terrorism there. There should have been police. Rangers report to provincial government. But the Sindh government sent Rangers.

In Captain (retd) Safdar case which took place with the Rangers, the Sindh government had clearly stated that our IG has been picked up by the people of intelligence and no report has been received till date.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the recent statement of Asif Ali Zardari said that in his mind the distance may have increased. There is not so much distance between us.

We want transparent elections in the country. Interference of institutions should be stopped. All institutions should remain within their constitutional limits.
