SBP introduces Easy Mobile Account

KARACHI Dec 13, 2021 – To increase financial access, SBP introduced Easy Mobile Account.

Leading personalities of the country’s financial sector were present at the inauguration ceremony of Asan Mobile Account.

State Bank Governor Raza Baqir told the function that the scheme to include 50 million people in the financial system was a challenge.

The Governor State Bank also suggested running a comprehensive media campaign of the scheme and providing savings and loan facility in addition to payments.

Deputy Governor SBP Seema Kamil also spoke on the occasion.

In his address, Chairman NADRA complained to the media that Pakistan did not promote itself as the first mobile app in the world to become a biometric verification country.

AMA allows opening of a branchless banking account by dialing a simple code *2262# on a mobile phone. The account holder can then deposit money in his or her account at any branchless banking agent and use the same for transactions through mobile phone.

AMA is an initiative of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to achieve National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) target of promoting digital financial inclusion in the country.
