Shahid Khaqan says NAB ordinance gives NRO to those sitting in government

Former Prime Minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi along with other PML-N leaders Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal in a press conference accused the government of giving NRO to cover up the government’s corruption. “Yes, it was not for accountability.” PML N leaders said. 

He said that the government has said that there can be no questioning on the decisions of the cabinet, they cannot question the theft of sugar, the theft of wheat, the drug scandal. The other strange thing is that the NAB cannot question if you have evaded taxes.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says that this means that the NAB cannot question the 700 people whose names have appeared in Pandora Leaks, NAB does not question any thief who is in the government or whatever the government has stolen. Maybe, the government thieves will be questioned by the thieves who are sitting in the cabinet, this whole matter is based on malice.

He said that if there was to be a law then there is no need for ordinance, this is not the age of martial law, there is a parliament, today in 3 years there are rumors of corruption in this government in media and newspapers. This ordinance gives NRO to those who are in government today. 

The former prime minister said that the president has tweeted that he has issued an ordinance, the second attempt made by this ordinance is more dangerous, the government has tried to rob the independence of the judiciary, the judges said. He said that the name of the President has been written more in this ordinance, while his job is only to sign. Trying to make arbitrary decisions will allow you to appoint people over the age of 68 as judges and pay them the same salary as a High Court judge. 

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that this means that you have to appoint corrupt people as judges and take decisions of your choice. The services of the current chairman NAB are invaluable for this government. He did not see any corruption in this government. He said that this ordinance is to cover up the corruption of the government, to extend the term of the chairman NAB who only serves Imran Khan, this clause has been removed that the chairman NAB should end his term of 4 years and go home. As long as there is a corrupt Prime Minister, he will remain the Chairman of the NAB.  

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says that as long as Javed Iqbal remains chairman NAB, government corruption will continue to be protected, he will continue to get NRO, Malam Jabba and Billion Tree corruption cases have been disposed off, this ordinance is ridiculous. There are clauses, it is an attack on the judiciary and an interference in the parliamentary system.
