SAARC mock conference held at SALU 

The Department of Pakistan Studies, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur organized Mock Conference on South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) at Students Societies Centre.

The themes of the conference were Peace, economic Cooperation and Climate Change. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences presided the event while Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari, Advisor to Vice Chancellor on Academics was the chief guest. The students of the B.S-IV Year represented eight members of SAARC in different dresses and deliberated on the theme of the conference.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari said that SAARC is the regional platform which is working on composite dialogue, bilateral trade, border issues and regional security. He said there is need to tape resources for the welfare of the people. He remarked that there is need of climate justice from the developed nations because in the wake of the heavy rains and flood, some of the member countries were badly affected.

Dr. Lashari appreciated the efforts of Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro, Chairman Department of Pakistan Studies for organizing this mock conference. He also commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmad Ibupoto for providing a viable platform to the students to show their potential in the co-curricular activities.

Prof. Dr. Minhoon Khan Laghari lauded the performance of the students who represented on behalf of the members of SAARC. He said this is model of live learning. In the contemporary age, the teaching way is changing into a practical dynamic.

Teachers, students of SALU pay tributes to I.A Rehman

Dr. Siraj Ahmed Soomro said that SAARC policies aimed at to promote economic welfare and collective self reliance among the countries of South Asia. SAARC has developed diplomatic relations with European Union, United Nations and other multilateral entities. He said that this mock conference aimed at to aware the students practically about the working of SAARC in the region and to develop confidence among the students.

Dr. Mujeeb Abro, Dr. Inayatullah Bhatti, Mr. Aashique Ali Lashari, Mr. Sarmad Rahat, Mr. Ali Raza Lashari, Ms. Afroze Kalhoro, Ms. Bakhtawar Jatoi, Mr. Raza Shahani, Mr. Taj Rind and others attended the conference.

Mr. Tehzeeb Chandio, Mr. Kamran behan, Mr. Shafqat, Ms. Nagina and others were the organizers of the conference.

Mr. Wali Muhammad and Ms. Nimra conducted the proceedings of the conference.
