Rioting at shelter home in Karachi: 9 including two women arrested

KARACHI (June 25, 2021) Nine people, including two women, have been arrested for rioting at a government run shelter home near Ayesha Manzil here on Friday.

According to the police, a case of the incident has been registered in Gulberg police station under the provisions of rioting, damaging and threatening at the instigation of Muhammad Qadeer, the driver of the government shelter home.

Police said that the arrested persons demanded reunion of the woman from Mirpur Khas who had taken shelter in the shelter home and her family.

The administration said the meeting at the shelter home was over, but they caused a commotion, torturing the shelter’s driver and security guard.

The detainees included a NGO worker and the woman’s family.
