Clashes broke out between angry pilgrims and police resulting in several vehicles being burnt to ashes

 SEHWAN: Zaereen, the visitors were enraged over cancellation of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs in Sehwan and clashed with police. An FIR has been lodged case against 400 unknown persons for breaking the main gate of Dargah attempted murder, demolition and desecration of shrine.

Despite the cancellation of the annual Urs celebrations of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, several pilgrims reached the shrine. Visitors were outraged to hear the cancellation of Urs celebrations.

Enraged pilgrims forced entry

Clashes broke out between angry pilgrims and police, who broke down the gate of the shrine’s entry point. Several motorcycles and vehicles were set on fire. They also pelted stones and bricks on police

Rangers took control of the shrine and its environs. When pilgrims from all over the country reached Dargah Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, they heard the cancellation of the celebrations and shouted at the police and tried to enter the shrine.

Meanwhile, clashes broke out between police and pilgrims, and angry protesters smashed the security entry point gate of the shrine.

When a heavy contingent of police took control of the shrine, the pilgrims broke into the shrine and set fire to several motorcycles.

The SSP  Jawaid Baloch said that the pilgrims are adamant that they should be allowed to visit the shrine. Due to the third wave of corona virus, the shrines of Sindh including Lal Shahbaz Qalandar are closed.

Reports said more police have been called to control the situation

They are trying to convince the pilgrims. Visitors say they are unaware of the shrine’s closure.

Najaf Ali Shah, security in-charge of Dargah Qalandar is complainant of the case registered at Sehwan police station. The charges included attempted murder, demolition, breaking of Dargah Qalandar gate, desecration of shrine.

The complainant Syed Najaf Ali Shah informed stated in the FIR that on the refusal to open the door of Shrine, mob stormed the entrance gate of the shrine.

Police constables Mohammad Achar, Wazir Ali and Ali Mohammad Gaincho were injured.
