PTA launches automated system to block lost, stolen, snatched cell phones

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has launched a new automated “Lost and Stolen Device System” (LSDS) to block lost, stolen and snatched mobile phones.

PTA says, The new system will be helpful for users who want to block their mobile phone in case it is stolen, snatched or lost.

Users can apply to PTA to block IMEI of such phone sets to prevent possible misuse of their mobile

LSDS is an automated system and integrates with PTA’s Device Identification Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).

The stolen mobile phone will be blocked within 24 hours after the registration of the complaint and the necessary confirmation, new policy says.

Users can apply for PTA phone blocking through the Online Complaint Management System (CMS) on the website www.pta.gov.pk.

According to PTA for more information users can contact PTA Consumer Support Center (CSC) toll free number 55055-0800 (7 days a week from 9 am to 9 pm).

 In case of finding a lost phone, the complainant will have to follow the same procedure for blocking them through CMS and provide other necessary details along with the complaint reference number which they provided while blocking the mobile phone.

It should be noted that so far the stolen, snatched and lost mobile phone can be blocked or blocked by calling PTA toll free number 25625-0800 and on imei@pta.gov.pk or through CPLC, Karachi.

These devices will no longer be available to block or unlock phones after the new system is introduced.
