PM’s Special Assistant Zulfi Bukhari resigns

ISLAMABAD (May 17, 2021): Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Overseas Pakistanis, Zulfi Bukhari, has resigned.

In a statement, Zulfi Bukhari said, “I am ready to face any kind of inquiry. Until my name is cleared, I will resign from my post.”

Zulfi Bukhari further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan always said that whoever is accused should resign till he is cleared.

He said that it has nothing to do with Ring Road and real estate projects, this scandal should be investigated by a competent person.

The Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he would like a judicial inquiry for a transparent investigation into the matter.

“During this time, I will be in Pakistan and with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he said.

Zulfi Bukhari also said that he has given up his overseas life to serve the country.

Meanwhile Chairman NAB has ordered probe into alleged corruption in Ring Road Rawalpindi project.

The NAB spokesperson said that the chairman NAB took notice of irregularities and illegal land acquisition in the Ring Road project and directed to conduct investigation.

Earlier in the day, the Punjab government has handed over the investigation of Rawalpindi Ring Road scandal to the Director General Anti-Corruption.
