PDM discussing strategy today, as PPP, ANP remain absent

ISLAMABAD: The Opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)  is meeting today, i.e Monday to deliberate upon its anti-government strategy but the PPP and ANP will not be in the steering committee meeting.

Sources in Lahore said that, the PDM has decided in principle that it would not invite them to the next meeting after they announced to quit the alliance.

The Opposition alliance had served notices to PPP and ANP after they uniliaterlly got vote for Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani election as Opposition leader in the Senate and alleged the two parties for violating the consensus decision of the PDM.

The PDM in Monday’s meeting would discuss the anti-government movement, long march and resignations from the assemblies after Eid-ul-Fitr.

The former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman and PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif reached on a consensus to leave aside the PPP and ANP for time being.

Nawaz Sharif and Maulana Fazlur Rahman are waiting for persoanl contacts with PPP leaders, about which Maryam Nawaz had hinted in her Sunday’s press talk. Both leaders are of the view that the PPP and ANP will return to opposition alliances.
