Pakistan demands disarmament of banned TTP

ISLAMABAD Oct 01,2021- Prime Minister Imran Khan said in an interview with Turkish TV that the Pakistani government is in talks to disarm the Taliban.

He said that the Afghan Taliban were playing the role of mediator in the talks, adding that some groups of the banned TTP wanted to talk to the government.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that we are in touch with some groups of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, always said that there is no military solution to the problem of Afghanistan.

He said that if the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) surrendered, they could be pardoned, after which the banned TTP could live like ordinary citizens.

The Prime Minister also said that he did not know whether the talks with the banned TTP would be fruitful or not, adding that talks with the TTP were being held in Afghanistan with the cooperation of the Afghan Taliban.
