Over Rs 23 billion distributed among 946,813 flood-affected families: Shazia Marri

ISLAMABAD, Sep 12, 2022- Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security/Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Ms. Shazia Marri has said that Rs 25,000 under flood relief cash assistance would mean a lot to the flood affected families.

There are those who have lost everything in the recent floods. Despite the extraordinary circumstances, the Benazir Income Support Program has distributed more than 23 billion rupees to 946,813 flood-affected families in a short period of time.

She said that it is a matter of honor that the Prime Minister chose Benazir Income Support Program for distribution of cash relief.

She further said that monitoring teams of Benazir Income Support Program have been formed to ensure transparency in the process of cash distribution and concerned officers are regularly visiting relief centers to monitor the delivery of assistance.

Till Monday evening, a total amount of Rs 23670325000 has been distributed among 946813 affected families under this programme.

Giving breaking She said in Balochistan 116753 affected families received Rs.2918825000, while 564472 families in Sindh have received Rs.14111800000. Likewise 116962 families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have received Rs 2924050000 and in Punjab 148626 families have received Rs 3715650000.

Today, 22,527 flood-affected families received cash assistance from various camps set up in flood-affected areas of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

A control room has been set up at the headquarters of the Benazir Income Support Program to ensure transparency in payments.
