One person was killed, 40 injured as bomb blast at Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar

BAHAWALNAGAR Aug 19,2021 – Three people were killed and 35 others including children injured, as a bomb blast at the main Ashura procession in Bahawalnagar, city of Punjab province.

Punjab Minister for Zakat and Ushr minister Shaukat Ali Lalika told media that one has been killed and 35 are in hospital.

The condition of two injured is sated critical.A bomb blast occurred on Jail Road. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital, while a heavy contingent of police and Rangers reached the spot. The area has been sealed off and an emergency has been declared in the hospitals

Police said, when the procession of Ashura reached Jail Road, there was a sudden explosion. The procession was coming from Imambargah Jamiat-ul-Zahra. More than 400 mourners were present in the procession

Law enforcement agencies have launched operation.
