No confidence motion: Top Opposition leaders to meet daily basis

Consultative committee constituted

LAHORE, Feb 23,2022- Top Opposition leaders will be meeting daily basis to review the situation and monitor the development, it was reliably learnt.

The opposition constituted a committee comprising all opposition parties, which will determine the timing of the political and legal strategy and the motion of no-confidence.

Important decisions were made in the consultative meeting of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Asif Ali Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), led by the PML-Q, arrived at the residence of Chaudhry brothers.

Lahore has become the center of the politics of the opposition.

After consultation between the opposition parties, Maulana Fazlur Rehman arrived for a meeting with the Chaudhry brothers. During the meeting no confidence motion and possible options in case of its success were also discussed.

Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Zardari and Maulana Fazlur Rehman met. Another important meeting between Asif Zardari and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi will take place tonight. Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will visit Bilawal House.Maulana Fazlur Rehman has also met the Chaudhry brothers a few days ago.

Ealier, the Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif reached the house of former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Considering the number game, the delegation led by PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif had a very important meeting with former President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House Lahore.

Bilawal Bhutto left his visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa incomplete and reached Lahore from Mardan to join the meeting. Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Akram Durrani and Maulana Asad Mahmood also attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the overall situation in the country, especially the progress made so far in the no-confidence motion against the government, political contacts and future strategy.

Other options including no-confidence were also discussed, the joint statement said. It has been said that the meeting had important consultations on the decisive move of the no-confidence motion. The target will be even easier. Even if there is a vote of confidence against the Prime Minister, the Speaker can play an important role.  

According to sources, PML-N will consult Nawaz Sharif in this regard. It was agreed to hold a joint meeting on a daily basis. The meeting of the senior leadership of the three parties will be held at the residence of Shehbaz Sharif.

The statement said that according to the opposition parties, the fire of inflation is burning in the homes of the people. By sending the government home, the people can be saved from this tyranny.

A statement issued after the meeting said that fascism and dictatorship have been dubbed as the PECA Amendment Act, which would snatch power from the rulers who snatched freedom of media and expression. The participants of the meeting expressed concern over the instability and lawlessness in the country and said that the rulers have failed to meet the basic needs of the people.

PML-N directs MNAs to return home

On the other hand, sources said that PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has called Nawaz Sharif after meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari. The political situation in the country and the no-confidence motion were discussed.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also took the meeting with Asif Ali Zardari into confidence.

Sources said that the two leaders agreed to further intensify the anti-government movement. Maulana Fazlur Rehman briefed Nawaz Sharif on Asif Zardari’s proposals.

Earlier, at the invitation of former President Asif Ali Zardari, a delegation led by PML-N President and Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif and comprising Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah Khan and Ramrim Aurangzeb reached Bilawal where Asif Ali Zardari himself received the delegation along with party leaders. Shehbaz Sharif also presented a bouquet to Asif Ali Zardari.

Later, an initial informal meeting was held between the leaders of the two parties in which Yousuf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, Rukhsana Bangash, Abdul Qadir Shaheen and Zulfiqar Ali Badr also participated. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, JUI leader Akram Khan Durrani and Maulana Asad Mahmood also attended the meeting and formal meeting started.

During the meeting, the leadership of both the parties discussed in detail the overall political situation. According to sources, the PML-N, while proposing the resignations of 10 to 15 angry members of the government, said that if the angry members of the government resigned, the government would lose a simple majority. According to sources, the PPP has expressed reservations over the proposal.

According to sources, the PPP is of the view that if the Speaker does not accept the resignations of these angry government members, then the success of the strategy may be hampered.

The PPP Asif Ali Zardari also gave a special dinner in honor of all the participants.
