Nasir Shah directs to prevent water theft in city

KARACHI Jul 28,2021- Sindh Minister for local Government and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has directed the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board administration to prevent water theft and ensure fair water supply in the city.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah issued such directives during his visit to Hub pumping station, and Hub water treatment plant.

Nasir Shah said that Sindh government’s priority is to ensure water supply to Karachi city and added that water thefts should be strictly prevented.

Nasir Shah directed the water board administration to ensure fair water distribution, as district West can also get water.

He said except seven legally operational hydrants, action should be taken against all other hydrants and directed that all illegal connections and punctures should be removed.

The Local government minister directed to form a coordination committee consisting of elected representatives of the West and water board officers.

Pumping Station on Northern Bypass

Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah inspected a Pumping Station on Northern Bypass.

MNA Shahidah Rehmani told the minister that 30 villages were supplied water from this pumping station.

The pumping station was Sher Mohammad Baloch’s scheme under the District Council, which rendered no operational since a long time, and now water is stolen from the place by tankers.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah directed MD water board for deployment of staff to prevent water theft. Patrolling should be started here with the help of police.

All the tankers arriving here should be seized and cases should be registered against the accused, Nasir Hussain Shah directed the water board administration.

Dr. Shahida Rahmani MNA, Qadir Khan Mandokhel MNA, Liaquat Asakani MPA, MD Water Board Asadullah Khan accompanied the minister.
