NAB decides filing two references and launching 6 new probes

ISLAMABAD, Feb 15, 2022- A meeting of the Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau NAB was held under the chairmanship of Justice Javed Iqbal at here NAB Headquarters.

The meeting of the Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau approved to file two references.  

The meeting of the Executive Board of the NAB approved the filing of references against the officers / officials of the Federal Board of Revenue and others accused.

The officers of FBR allegedly gave contract a foreign company by abusing powers, which caused 11.125 million dollar loss to national exchequer.

The Executive Board of the NAB approved to file a reference against Rana Muhammad Afzal, Executive Engineer, Irrigation Department Multan and others. The defendants are accused of alleged misconduct and bribery.

The meeting approved to launch six new investigations, which included Muhammad Burjis Tahir MNA, Saleem Goraya contractor and others, Management of Geomaster Private Limited, Messrs. Geomaster International Limited and others, Management of EOBI, Bank of Punjab Officers and others, Gul Hassan Channa and Abdul Razzaq Qureshi, former Secretary Revenue Stamps and Evacuee Properties, Government of Sindh, officers / officials of Bannu Sugar Mills Limited, Shabir Ahmed, Naqibullah, Developers of John Town, Kuchlak & Mega City Kuchlak.

Proposed Amendments in NAB law: Prosecutor General to be empowered

The Board meeting approved to send the inquiry against Pakistan Petroleum Limited to the concerned department for further action as per law.

The meeting of the Executive Board of the NAB approved the closure of investigation Jan Muhammad Jamali, Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan and others in accordance with the investigation law.

1405 accused convicted in four years

The Chairman Accountability Bureau, Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal said that accountability courts have convicted 1405 accused due to effective follow up of NAB. NAB has recovered Rs. 539 billion directly and indirectly from corrupt elements in the last four years.

The meeting was attended by Zahir Shah, Deputy Chairman NAB, Syed Asghar Haider, Prosecutor General Accountability, Masood Alam Khan, DG Operations and other senior officers.
