KUJ delegation apprises DG PID about journalists problems

KARACHI Sep 06,2021- A delegation of Karachi Union of Journalists called on Director General, Press Information Department, Government of Pakistan Irum Tanveer, at her office here on Monday.

The KUJ delegation was led by President Ijaz Ahmed, Vice President Nasir Sharif and General Secretary Ajiz Jamali.

The meeting was also attended by PID Deputy Director Noman Ahmed and other officers.

The KUJ delegation briefed the DG-PID about the talks with Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry and the KUJ’s concerns about the Media Development Authority.

The issues of Karachi journalists and the proposed draft of Pakistan Media Development Authority were discussed in detail during the meeting. During the meeting, the steps taken by the Federal Ministry of Information to address the problems of journalists in Karachi were also discussed in detail.

DG Press Information Department Karachi Irum Tanveer said that the federal government was trying to solve the problems of journalists, in the light of the instructions of the Federal Ministry of Information. She assured that Federal Ministry of Information will be apprised of the possible steps to be taken to solve the problems of journalists raised during the meeting today.

She said that the federal government would also be informed about the medical treatment of sick journalists and financial assistance to unemployed journalists. KUJ should submit its recommendations in writing which will be implemented as much as possible.
