Increasing pollution pushes Lahore schools to close three days a week

In view of smog and increasing pollution in the province the government has decided to keep public and private schools in Lahore closed three days a week.

The decision to close educational institutions in Lahore three days a week has been taken in view of smog and increasing pollution in the province.

Relief Commissioner Punjab, Babar Hayat Tarar has also issued a notification, according to which schools in Lahore will remain closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

According to the notification, private and government colleges and all academies in Lahore will be closed three days a week from November 27 to January 15.

 Lahore still has a bad air pollution situation, Lahore is still number one in the world in terms of air pollution.

The number of precipitation meters recorded was 190, second only to Kolkata and third to Karachi in terms of pollution.

 Despite the ban in Bahawalnagar, the remnants of paddy crops continue to be burnt while smog is also being emitted from the chimneys of brick kilns and other factories.

Citizens have demanded that the administration and the environment department take notice of the smog and increasing pollution.
