Hesco fined for death of 12 people in current incidents

HYDERABAD Oct 02,2021- NEPRA has held Hesco responsible for death of 12 people due to electric current incidents in the region and fined the power distribution company Rs 121 million.

According to NEPRA, 15 people were killed in the current incidents between July 2019 and October 2020, Hesco was held responsible for 12 deaths.

The deaths included five Hesco employees and seven civilians. Hesco was issued show cause notices on the incidents and given an opportunity to respond, but Hesco failed to fulfill its legal obligations.

NEPRA directed the Hesco to pay the fine amount.

Death toll in PMT fire case rose to 7

In a short span of one month, 13 lives have been lost in two identical incidents of fire in the transformer. The first incident was reported on June 18, when seven persons including five children suffered burns in Islamabad Mohalla and then 18 persons received massive burn wounds on July 22 in the second incident.
