ISLAMABAD, March 12,2022- The Election Commission of Pakistan – ECP has issued a notice to the Prime Minister on the violation of code of conduct in the second phase of local body elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The District Monitoring Officer issued notices to 10 public office holders, including Prime Minister Imran Khan, and seven candidates for violating the code of conduct.

District Monitoring Officer Hameedullah, for violation of the Code of Conduct, directed the Prime Minister to appear in person at Lower Dir on March 14 at 10:30 am in person or with a written reply through a lawyer.

The ECP also issued notices to nine more public office holders.

Notices were issued to Chief Minister KP Mehmood Khan, Governor Shah Farman, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, federal ministers Asad Umar, Murad Saeed and Pervez Khattak.

Provincial Minister Anwar Zeb, Member Provincial Assembly Liaqat Ali, Special Assistant Malik Shafiullah issued notices.

It is to be noted that the ECP had barred the Prime Minister from visiting Dir during LB poll campaign. Despite the directive of the Election Commission, the Prime Minister addressed a public meeting in Dir.
