FAPUASA Sindh Chapter opposes the proposal

The Sindh government in principle decided to eliminate the requirement of PhD and 15 research papers for the appointment of vice chancellors in the universities of Sindh.

If this proposal is approved, the civil servants, college teachers, of grade 17 or above grade officers of private or government institutions will also be eligible to apply for the post of Vice-Chancellor, but for them, 20 years of experience, including 10 years of administrative experience, will be required.

The age limit for the post has been reduced from 65 years to 62 years.

The Vice-Chancellor is the principal academic and administrative officer of the University and he/she provides leadership, academic and administrative to the whole University.

For the appointment of Vice Chancellor, Secretary Boards and Universities Mureed Rahimoo has sent a summary to the Chief Minister of Sindh in which it is recommended that a new advertisement be given for Dawood Engineering University and Sukkur Women University.

The summary sent to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Secretary Boards and Universities has sought permission to advertise the post of VC of Larkana Medical University, Dr. Anila Atta-ul-Rehman.

The summary also seeks to advertise for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor in 6 universities Mehran Engineering University, Liaquat Medical University, Skill Development University Khairpur, IBA Sukkur, Shaheed Allah Bakhsh University Arts and Design and Arora University Sukkur.

Meanwhile, FAPUASA Sindh Chapter strongly condemns the proposal of Sindh Govt. to appoint the bureaucrats as Vice chancellors for the Universities of Sindh province. The appointment of Vice Chancellors must be according to the act of HEC  as well as the acts of others provincial Govts. of Pakistan.

President FAPUASA Sindh Chapter Prof. Dr. Shah Ali ul Qader, General Secretary Dr. Nasrullah Pirzada, Executive council member Prof.Dr. Akhtiar Ali Ghamro and other members of FAPUASA Sindh Chapter in their statements have shown strong reaction and concern on this matter.

The leadership of FAPUASA Sindh Chapter said that strong protest and agitation would be initiated immediately against this proposal of Sindh Govt.
