Approval of changes in local bodies system of Punjab postponed

ISLAMABAD Sep 14,2021- The approval of changes in local bodies system of Punjab was postponed for further consultation and consideration.

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday, chaired a meeting on Punjab’s local government system and the draft law.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Asad Umar, Punjab Local Government Minister Mahmood Rasheed, Law Minister Raja Basharat and Industry Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal.

Federal Minister Monis Elahi and Tariq Bashir Cheema from PML-Q attended the meeting.

According to sources, the Prime Minister directed to take steps keeping in view the rural and urban divisions with more consideration on the new local government system.

Sources said, a meeting with the coalition leadership on the issue will be held again in the next two to three days.

According to sources, the meeting will review the points of the local government system and make recommendations.
