Karachi: May 7, 2023 – A delegation of students belonging to the University of Sufism & Modern Sciences, Bhit Shah, district Matiari led by Atta Chopan, Assistant Director ORIC and other faculty members visited Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Addressing the introductory meeting held at Senate Hall of SMIU, Dr. Aamir Iqbal Umrani, Director ORIC, SMIU briefed the delegation about SMIU’s history, its role in spreading modern education in the country, its academic and administrative structure, activities and about different departments. Dr. Aamir Iqbal Umrani said that SMIU and University of Sufism and Modern Sciences will extend cooperation in various areas in near future.
Later, the delegation went round the Jinnah Museum, TV and Radio Studios, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Library, I.T. Tower and other sections of SMIU.
On this occasion Mr. Atta Chopan informed that the University of Sufism and Modern Sciences is emerging as one of the best universities of the area. Presently, it is housed in a building of another institute, but its own building will be completed in coming year (2024), then it will be shifted there. He said currently more than one thousand students are enrolled at Sufism University, but enrollment is increasing rapidly as students of the neighboring areas i.e. Matiari, Bhit Shah, Hala, Khyber, Sanghar, Tando Adam, Kazi Ahmed etc. are preferring to get admission in this university, which has competent and experienced faculty and conducive atmosphere. He also informed that strength of girl students is more than boy students in the university.
The heads of the delegation also praised working, atmosphere and historic role of Sindh Madressatul Islam University. Also, they lauded cooperation and hospitality extended to them by ORIC of SMIU during their visit.
