Sindh & Balochistan agree to resolve water dispute

KARACHI, Dec 15,2021- Sindh and Balochistan have agreed to resolve water dispute through mutual negotiations and the two provinces will respect each other’s water rights and interests.

Approval for this understanding will be given in a meeting between the chief ministers of the two provinces.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting here. Irrigation ministers of Balochistan and Sindh Mir Muhammad Khan Lahri and Jam Khan Shoro besides Secretary Irrigation of both the provinces.

In the meeting, issues related to the distribution of Indus River water between the two provinces under the IRSA agreement and the issues raised in this regard were reviewed and the position of both the provinces was reviewed.

It was decided at the meeting that the Secretary and Engineers of Irrigation Department of both the provinces would convene a meeting to finalize all the issues and issues to be resolved and the recommendations of the meeting would be presented for approval in the meeting between the Chief Ministers of both the provinces.
