A letter written by the late British Queen Elizabeth II is kept secret and cannot be read for another 63 years. The letter may not be opened until 2085.
Queen Elizabeth II wrote the letter 36 years ago during her visit to Sydney in November 1986.
She wrote this letter for the people of Sydney which was secretly stored in the historic Queen Victoria Building in Sydney.
Apparently no one knows what the letter contains because the envelope in which the letter is placed clearly has instructions on the front of it as to when to open it.
On the envelope, with the signature of Queen Elizabeth II, it was written that “On some suitable day in the year 2085, this envelope will be opened and then my message will be delivered to the people of Sydney.”
Now this envelope is inside a glass case. It should be noted that the owner of the British throne is also the head of state of Australia and Queen Elizabeth II visited Australia 16 times during her reign.
