Prime minister appoints Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum as new DG ISI

The Prime Minister’s Office has issued a notification for the appointment of Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum as Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He will replace Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed and will take charge on from November 20, 2021.

The notification said that the Prime Minister had reviewed the summary and approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum as Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The notification, signed by Secretary to the Prime Minister Azam Khan, said that the Prime Minister reviewed the panel of officers given in the sixth paragraph of the summary and approved the appointment of Lt. Gen. Nadeem Anjum.

It may be mentioned that this notification has been issued 20 days after the announcement of ISPR. Corps Commander Karachi Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, Chief of Logistics Staff GHQ Lt. Gen. Saqib Mehmood Malik and Commander Southern Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali was nominated for the post of ISI chief.

According to sources, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa had earlier called on Imran Khan at the Prime Minister’s House. Later, DG ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed also joined the meeting.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Imran Khan on Tuesday and after detailed consultation process, the name of Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum was approved for the new DG ISI.

Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum, posted by DG ISI, has extensive experience in command, staff and instructional assignments.
