Pet seller taken to court for selling non-breed dog in Karachi

KARACHI, (May 20, 2021): The Consumer Protection Court South will hear the arguments of lawyers in a case of selling a common dog in the name of a breed dog.

On Thursday, report by a veterinarian was submitted in the court, which revealed that the dog is not of the Shih Tzu breed.

After submission of the report was, the court sought arguments from the lawyers. The court directed the lawyers to give arguments on the next hearing

At the last hearing, the court had sought a report from a veterinarian on the breed of dog.

Petitioner bought a Shih Tzu breed dog from Pet City Defense for 80,000.

As soon as the dog was taken home, he became suspicious of its breed, the petitioner said

Petitioner requests court to order action against Pet City for fraud.

Shih Tzu means, the “Little Lion Dog” originated in 17th century China and is believed to be a cross between the Tibetan Spaniel and the Lhasa Apso. According to experts it is a relatively new breed in America; in the 1960s, only 100 Shih Tzus were registered in the country! Their popularity rose quickly though.

Accoridng to Prestige Animal Hospital dogs of this breed are sensitive to heat and require only moderate exercise. Shih Tzus are primarily companion dogs, and they take this job very seriously—they love to be with their families whenever possible. The Shih Tzu is a generally healthy breed with an average lifespan of 13-15 years.
