Pakistan Cricket Board dissolves current selection committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board has dissolved the current selection committee. A new selection committee will be announced soon which will make independent decisions on merit for team selection.

According to the PCB spokesperson, the decisions on the merits of the new selection committee will be in front of everyone.

In the dissolved selection committee, Wahab Riaz was the chief selector of the national team while other members of the selection committee included Tauseef Ahmed, Wajahatullah Wasti and Wasim Haider.

Besides, Kamran Akmal and Rao Iftikhar were included as consultant members and Hasan Muzaffar Cheema as manager analyst.

On the other hand, the press conference of Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled today.

According to sources, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi may announce the new selection committee in the press conference and Wahab Riaz is likely to get the responsibilities of the chief selector again while former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq is a strong candidate as a member.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi had a detailed consultation with PCB officials regarding the selection of players for the training and fitness camp in connection with the visit of New Zealand cricket team to Pakistan this week.

The names of the players for the camp were considered at the head office of the Pakistan Cricket Board, with Mohsin Naqvi directing to select the players on merit and performance.

On this occasion, Mohsin Naqvi said that the players who performed best in PSL 9 should be included in the camp, not to accept my recommendation in the selection of players for the camp.
