Murad chides Fed minister, SOPs not be followed by pressing button

ISLAMABAD: The Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah rebuked Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry and said he did not know how SOPs are followed, the SOPs could be followed by pressing a button and added, the contradictory statements of the federal ministers suffice to describe their governance and performance.

Speaking to media outside the court before hearing on Nooriabad power plant reference in accountability court Islamabad, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that we had asked to stop intercity transport but our advice was not heard. He said, when I arrived, the plane was full, and while I had heard that the flights were 20%.

Yesterday, federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has criticised the Sindh government  for its insufficient measures to control virus.

The Chief Minister Sindh said, “I do not understand for what we are waiting to go to the lockdown”.

Murad Ali Shah said, “I had suggested in the NCC meeting that we should stop intercity transport, the whole world should stop flights, if people leave our country we have to quarantine them for 14 days.”

The Chief Minister said that we have made the attendance in Sindh government offices to 20%, Sindh is the only province where online assembly sessions are held, we have given seats to each party in the assembly according to party position, and the rest are online.

He complained, it is not right to call people from Karachi for the Islamabad case. The corona virus cannot be stopped in a small court room.

He said that the federal government’s strategy for controlling the spread of Corona virus was completely out of the question, adding that the spread of virus could not be stopped by issuing press statements or inventing new meters.

Murad Ali Shah pointed out differences among the federal ministers and said one minister says that how can transport be stopped because people come to shop. Another says that there will be lockdown in the last 10 days of Ramadan.

The Chief Minister said that Imran Khan says that Corona is a deadly disease, be he was inaugurating the projects the next day. Murad Ali Shah said that if we do not take strict measure for Corona, a situation like India would happen.

He said that the corona situation in Sindh is not very good. Despite this, 50 people are called from Karachi to appear in the court.

He further said that the condition of hospitals in Sindh is better, we have a strategy.

The Chief Minister said that it was a great failure that we could not get the vaccinations on time, we are lagging behind in getting the vaccinations even from the backward countries.

He said the ban on inter-provincial transport should have been imposed for two weeks to curb the epidemic at the provincial level, adding that federal ministers did not know in which world they lived where they kept coming up with strange ideas.
