Massive gold theft scandal unveiled at Dargah Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Dargah

KARACHI, Dec 22,2023: Gold worth more than one crore rupees has been reported stolen from the revered Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Dargah in Sehwan. Caretaker Auqaf Minister Umar Soomro has  ordered the suspension of the Dargah manager and initiating legal proceedings.

The stolen loot, valued at a staggering 1 crore 23 lakh 72 thousand 863 rupees, allegedly occurred over the course of one month, raising concerns about the security and management of the sacred site.

The caretaker minister, expressing deep concern, has directed the halt of the manager’s salary and pension while urging the anti-corruption agency to swiftly recover the stolen gold.

According to the spokesperson of the Minister of Auqaf, the accused manager, Zubair Baloch, has reportedly confessed to the theft in front of the inquiry committee, further intensifying the gravity of the situation. Umar Soomro has not only pledged to recover the stolen gold but has also announced a comprehensive investigation into all shrine managers to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future.

Sources reveal that Zubair Baloch, appointed as the manager by Secretary Manoor Mahesar, has been in charge of the Nazrana box at Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Dargah for many years.

As the scandal unfolds, questions are being raised about the overall management and security protocols at religious shrines, prompting authorities to reevaluate and reinforce measures to safeguard these sacred sites.
