LHC will hear Maryam Nawaz’s plea for obtaining the passport

Lahore High Court has fixed for hearing the application of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz filed for obtaining the passport.

A 2-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi of Lahore High Court will hear on Thursday, while Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu will be a part of the 2-member bench.

Maryam Nawaz has approached the Lahore High Court for the return of her passport.

Maryam Nawaz filed a passport return request through Amjad Parvez advocate.

It was argued in the petition that under the Constitution, indefinite detention of passports falls under the category of violation of fundamental constitutional rights.

In the petition, it was said that NAB seized the passport of Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, but no reference was filed despite the passage of 4 years, she will not escape anywhere.

In the application, it was said that she returned to Pakistan after leaving her mother on her deathbed, there is no restriction in the NAB law for the accused to go abroad, 7 crore rupees have also been deposited for security.

The petition stated that in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, bail was granted on merit, requesting that the Deputy Registrar Judicial be ordered to return the passport.
