General (r) Faiz Hameed records statement before Faizabad Sit-in Commission

ISLAMABAD (Monitoring Desk) Former DG ISI Lt Gen (Rtd) Faiz Hameed has said that he will never join politics.

Talking to a reporter of an English daily on Thursday, he said that the talk about his joining politics is completely wrong, “after two years of ban, I will not be a part of politics and never after that.”

There has been a debate in politics and media in the recent past regarding the retired general, who was considered the best choice of Imran Khan for the post of Army Chief.

On Thursday, a video footage went viral on social media that Faiz Hameed attended a public gathering in his native village Chakwal in which an unidentified person addressed the public gathering praising the retired general for his services to the army and his region.

The man invited the retired general to participate in politics and asked him to play a role in the development of the country.

Several journalists and others shared the video on Twitter with their own comments.

A Pakistani actress and blogger Shama Junejo shared the video and tweeted that the real threat to Imran Khan is not PDM but his own beloved friend General Faiz who wanted to take over the reins of PTI when he [Imran Khan] will be declared ineligible and arrested.

The retired general organized a gathering in Chakwal where locals “requested” him to join “formal” politics.
