Jahangir Tareen announces donation of Rs 10 crore for flood victims

LAHORE Aug 10,2021- The Lahore High Court, at the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen, conditionally stayed the government from taking disciplinary action against the sugar mills till the next hearing.

The court directed the sugar mills to submit the guarantee amount difference in the price of sugar with the cane commissioner.

The LHC Court sought a reply from the Punjab government and other parties on the matter, consolidating all the petitions and fixing them for hearing along with the central case.

It may be recalled that today, Jahangir Tareen’s sugar mills management had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against fixing the price of sugar, in which the federal and provincial governments and others have been made parties.

The petition filed stated that the court had ordered to hear the position of the owners of sugar mills before fixing the rate of sugar, despite the court order.

The petition contends that the government has issued a notification fixing the new price of sugar at Rs 89.50. It is not possible to sell sugar at the price fixed by the government.
