Cheating through impersonation as Chairman NAB and DG NAB

Karachi, August 13, 2021: In line with the directions of worthy Chairman NAB, Honourable Justice Javed Iqbal to aware people about NAB’s proactive strategy of Awareness and Prevention, it is hereby informed to the general public through this press release that some notorious persons by using the names of Chairman NAB, DG NAB Karachi & DG NAB Sukkur are approaching high profile officers / individuals and extorting money by threatening immediate arrest in case of noncompliance, says a press release issued by NAB

In this connection, NAB Karachi has taken the cognizance of the matter against the accused person namely Khalid Hussain S/o Muhammad Urs Solangi bearing CNIC No. 42401-2581024-7 and his accomplice accused Aamir Hussain, Shoaib Chandio, Muhammad Sohail and others.

Accused Khalid Hussain is the mastermind of the scam. He is cheating prominent Businessmen and Senior Government Officers by impersonating himself as the Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) & Director General(s) of NAB. He makes false statements about likely actions of NAB and offers compromises and cooperation in exchange of money.

He makes threating calls through his Watsapp numbers 0330-3439371, 0331-2906389, 0300-8277926, 0332-7509828, 0330-2893608, 0304-2498840 and warn them for unfavourable actions, if anyone refuse his offers.

The other accomplices of accused; Aamir Hussain, Shoaib Chandio and Shahid Hussain were actively working in connivance with accused Khalid Solangi. They were also collecting money on behalf of accused after his threatening calls to different prominent businessmen, government officials and individuals.

NAB Karachi has already initiated investigation into the matter and also written a letter to the Chief Secretary, Government of Sindh on 27 November, 2020 to disseminate the information to all Officers and Departments of Govt. of Sindh and to advise them to remain vigilant regarding the said accused persons, impersonating themselves as Chairman NAB, DG NAB Karachi & DG NAB Sukkur.

DG NAB Karachi Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza (PSP) said that no officer or member of NAB is permitted or authorized to make any unnecessary phone call to any citizen of Pakistan. He also stated that any call from above mentioned numbers or any call of similar nature be discredited and considered as fake and should be immediately reported to Intelligence Wing of NAB Karachi at Phone Number 021-99207951, 03337561001.

DG NAB Karachi Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza (PSP) has further reiterated that maximum public awareness and participation will definitely lessen the menace of corruption and corrupt elements from country.
