Sindh govt forms Business Liaison Committee

KARACHI, May 8,2022- Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met with business community leaders at Bilawal House, here on Sunday.

Zubair Motiwala, Muhammad Ali Tibba, Fawad Anwar, Javed Balwani, Idrees Memon, Zubair Chhaya, Masood Naqi, Zaki Bashir, Zaid Bashir and other business leaders were present on the occasion.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Nasir Shah, Saeed Ghani, Ikhtiar Baig, Ali Rashid, Waqar Mehdi and others present at the meeting.

On the instructions Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Sindh government has decided to set up a Business Liaison Committee to address the problems faced by traders and industrialists.
The Business Liaison Committee and its sub-committees will solve the problems of the business community with a strategy and rules and regulations.

Business community expresses gratitude to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for redressal of victims of Cooperative Market and Victoria Market by Sindh Government.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was told that Karachi’s share in national exports was 50%, if Sindh government cooperated, it can be doubled and business leaders added that despite, Karachi has a large share in exports, but we do not have a fair share in the Export Development Fund.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was briefed that the business community was not only facing shortage of gas but were also being discriminated in the gas tariff issue.

Business community said that Sindh was not being given its share of gas, part of 110 MMCFD of Ghotki gas field has not been given to Sindh, it is unconstitutional.

They further said that the status of GSP Plus will end in December 2023, diplomatic efforts in this regard should be intensified.

Business leaders urged Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, “You are the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, take our message to the world that we need trade not aid.”

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari told the business community has come forward and contributed to the public-private partnership projects of the provincial government with regard to Sindh, especially Karachi.
