Bilawal assigns special task to Sharjeel Memon to make Orange Line operational

Orange Line buses will reach at the port on May 11 

KARACHI, May 10,2022- Provincial Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon chaired a meeting of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company on Abdul Sattar Edhi (BRT Orange Line).

The minister told the meeting that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh will inaugurate the project and directed that he wanted to get the Orange Line buses plying on the route as soon as possible.

Sharjeel Memon warned that if this can’t done by anyone, he should resign and go home.

He directed the concerned officials,”Make your home in the camp office for a month, I can check any time at night.

Provincial Minister instructed Nespak Consultant to complete installation of signage board, docking rubbers, IT system.

Sharjeel Memon told the meeting that on May 11, Orange Line buses will reach at the port and bus depot in one more week, therefore Orange Line bus driver training schedule should be finalized so that training can start as soon as the buses arrive.

Sharjeel Memon siad that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah have given him this task, which has to be fulfilled in all circumstances. 

Sharjeel Memon gets additional charge of transport department

Sindh Infrastructure Development Company gave a detailed briefing in the meeting, on various stages of the project after the arrival of the bus depot. Integration of Orange Line into Green Line was also discussed in the meeting.

The SIDCL told the meeting that integration from Green Line is estimated to cost Rs. 45 crore.

After the integration, Orange Line buses will cover the distance upto Nagan Chowrangi, which will save the government in subsidizing the project.

Sindh minister said that work on the integration and design of the Orange Line will be done, but keep the project operational.

The meeting was attended by CIDCL CFO Khadim Hussain, General Manager Engineering Shafi Muhammad, and Consultant Project Manager Nespak Rehan Zaman.

Secretary Transport Abdul Haleem Sheikh, MD Sindh Mass Transit Authority Capt (retd) Altaf Hussain Sario, Director Infrastructure and Planning Yousuf Munir, Deputy Director Admin Syed Yazim Ali Shah and other officers were also present.
