Two suspects of SRA arrested
KARACHI: Two suspect terrorists were arrested on Monday, DIG Counter Terrorism Department Umer Shahid told at a press conference here on Tuesday
The arrested terrorists were identified as Javed Mangrio and Mumtaz Soomro, the DIG CTD told reporters.
According to the DIG, the arrested accused carried out several attacks on the Ehsas program office and Rangers.
The suspects arrested from Tariq Road on Monday were identified SRA activists and commanders.
The CTD said accused Mumtaz Soomro was arrested in front of a foreign restaurant. He wanted to attack a car of a foreign restaurant owner on Tariq Road with a magnetic device.
The device and remote control were recovered from a motorcycle parked in front of the restaurant on the pointation of the accused.

During the interrogation, some important revelations were made by the suspects, CTD said.
CTD officials quoted the statements of suspects, which said BLA provided arms to terrorists for Karachi Stock Exchange attack. It is further said,
Commander Sajjad ordered four Kalashnikovs and ammunition.
In 2020, they attacked Inspector Amir Riaz for revenge of Irshad Ranjhani, and the police officer was martyred.
In 2020, on the orders of Commander Sajjad, a man was killed at a hotel near Jamali Bridge.
The police said, Mumtaz admitted during interrogation that he planted explosives in a motorcycle on a vacant plot in Steel Town.
Police said, the suspect revealed that they prepared explosives and ball bearings in ghee canister and planed attack on Rangers’ mobile in Saddar area. But the remote did not work and there was no blast. The Steel Town police recovered a motorcycle loaded with explosives. BLA terrorists provided 32 hand grenades and 25 explosives in Jacobabad.
The accused further divulged that hand grenades and explosives were obtained for terrorist activities in different parts of Sindh. According to CTD police, he on the request of SRA Commander Sajjad Shah, delivered 17 hand grenades and 25 kg of explosives were at Karachi from Kotri.
During the interrogation, they revealed, they attacked Rangers mobile at Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Johar.
In Gulistan-e-Jauhar they retired Rangers inspector was attacked.
According to revelations at Nasir jump in Korangi an estate agency was attacked with hand grenade, injuring several people. Jamaat-e-Islami rally near Gulshan-e-Iqbal was attacked with a grenade.
CTD police said that the suspects also disclosed that they also attacked Shikarpur and Jacobabad Rangers headquarters, Independence Day celebration stall in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi, son of a religious leader of Larkana and PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh’s train march.
