Twitter challenges Modi govt order to take down tweets

LONDON, Jul 6,2022-  Micro-blogging website Twitter has filed a case against the Modi government for refusing to comply with unconstitutional orders and unnecessary restrictions.

The social media giant has filed a petition with the high court in Karnataka state resisting “several” such orders, sources told the BBC.

According to British media, the Indian ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ordered Twitter to remove posts related to the ongoing protests and demonstrations against the Modi government in the country and demanded the closure of the accounts of opposition party leaders.

The Modi government began to pressurize Twitter when the peasant movement was launched, wherein a large numbers of farmers from across the country reached New Delhi. Similarly, Twitter was also criticized for exposing government incompetence during the Corona epidemic.
