Three killed, 11 injured in Quetta explosion

QUETTA: Three persons died and 11 others were injured in a blast took place on the city’s Zarghun Road at 10,30 pm on Wednesday .

Among the 11 injured, two are said to be in critical state while the rest are reportedly stable , said hospital sources.

The blast occurred in the parking area of parking area of Serena hotel , said police. Several vehicles parked in the area caught fire after the blast police said.

Initial investigation has revealed the explosion was caused when explosive material, fitted inside a car was detonated, said police.

The blast, owing to its intensity, could be heard several kilometers away as well.

The injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital, said sources.

Law enforcement personnel have cordoned off the area and an investigation is underway.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed confirmed the casualties in the blast.

Samaa TV quoted the interior Minister: “We have taken this seriously,” he said. “It came at a time when the Chinese ambassador was staying at the hotel but it has been foiled.”
