Strict security in wake of expected protests in Pindi and Lahore

Strict security arrangements have been made in view of the expected long march of a banned outfit and opposition separately in Rawalpindi and Lahore on Friday. Several routes are closed and metro service is also suspended while police in Islamabad have also issued a traffic plan.

The banned outfit is demanding release of Saad Rizvi. The opposition alliance is protesting against the recent rise in prices of essential items and over all inflation in the counrty.

According to the Rawalpindi administration, the metro bus service has been partially closed as the Faizabad metro service will be closed from Saddar, while the metro bus will ply from IJP Road to the Secretariat.

Besides, most of the roads in the inner city of Rawalpindi have been closed.

Shaheen Chowk in Pindi has been closed with containers due to which the people are facing difficulties, while Faizabad Interchange has been completely closed with containers. Containers have been installed from Sixth Road to Faizabad, from Double Road. However Ninth Avenue is open to traffic.

In view of the situation in the twin cities, the spokesman of Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a traffic plan according to which the IJP road from Ninth Avenue Islamabad and Faizabad to Rawalpindi should be used.

A spokesman of the traffic police said that Faiz-ul-Islam stop, Murree Road is closed for traffic, commuters are advised to use Islamabad Highway from Islamabad to Murree Road Rawalpindi, Jinnah Avenue from Express Chowk to D Chowk has been closed.

The traffic police spokesman further said that citizens should use NADRA Chowk and Ayub Chowk to enter and exit the red zone. There is an alternative route for traffic at Sohan stop from Islamabad Highway to IJP Road.

KARACHI:  protests at the Saddar and Empress Market

Police in Karachi have issued a traffic plan in the wake of protests at the Saddar Empress Market under the anti-government opposition Tehreek-e-Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
According to the traffic plan issued by the traffic police, traffic will not be allowed to go from PP Chowrangi to Corridor III, all traffic will be diverted from PP Chowrangi to MA Jinnah Road.

The situation in Lahore

The Lahore administration said that metro bus service will be run in Lahore city from Gajumata to MAO College, Orange Line metro train service has also been suspended.

Internet service is also suspended near Multan Road Grand Battery Stop, Iqbal Town, Nawankot, Samanabad and Sabzazar, while containers have been installed on Multan Road near Samanabad Junction and at the grid station stop.

Containers have also been set up at Dubai Chowk on Allama Iqbal Town Main Boulevard.

The residents are facing difficulties due to closure of major roads.
