Solar power to 200,000 houses in 10 districts of Sindh will be accomplished by September

KARACHI, Jan 4, 2022- An important meeting of Sindh Solar Energy Project chaired by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh held today at the office of Sindh Energy Department.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Energy Sindh Abu Bakar Madani, Director Sindh Solar Energy Project Raja Shah Zaman Khuhro and other officials of Department of Energy and suppliers associated with Sindh Solar Energy Project.

It was informed in the meeting that a target has been set to supply solar power to 200,000 households in 10 districts of Sindh by September 2023, each house will be provided with 3 LED bulbs, an electric fan, a mobile charging facility, a solar plate and a lithium battery for backup, furthermore for this purpose, the suppliers associated with the solar project will provide microfinance facilities on very easy installments.

It was informed in the meeting that the suppliers associated with the solar energy project are opening shops in their respective districts from where the solar power equipment would be supplied to the concerned households.

Talking in the meeting, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh said that Sindh Solar Energy Project is an important project of public welfare and Sindh government is paying special attention to this project to provide affordable electricity to the peoples of his province.

He instructed that work on the project should be expedited so that the target of illuminating 200,000 houses with solar power could be achieved as per the given time frame.
