SMIU organises awareness session on educational opportunities in USA

Karachi: Nov 22, 2022 – Lee McManis, Public Affairs Officer at USA Consulate Karachi has said that USA is committed to providing educational opportunities to Pakistan’s students in its best universities on merit basis, without any nepotism or favour. 

He said this while addressing an awareness session organised by the Directorate of Student Affairs and Couselling of Sindh Madressatul Islam University  – SMIU on“How to Apply for Study in the USA” on Tuesday at Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto auditorium of the university. The session was held in connection with EducationUSA’s International Education Week.

Mr. Lee McManis said USA offers scholarships for its nine short term and long term academic programs to students of all social backgrounds at amid to produce leaders and also make them aware to the culture and values of USA. He said USA offers equal opportunities of education to talented students of diverse populations. He ugred the students of SMIU to avail these opportunities during their study here at SMIU and also after completing their education at SMIU.
He thanked to the Vice Chancellor of SMIU Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai on providing him the opportunity to visit historic institution of SMIU and address the students.
Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai in his speech thanked Mr. Lee McManis for making SMIU’s students aware about the educational opportunities available in USA. He urged the students of SMIU to get advantage from these opportunities. He was of the view that these programs are actually a world exposure to the students to see different cultures and people of different nations. He said SMIU’s Directorate of Students Affairs and Counselling and US Consulate should organise mutual programs in the future.
Earlier, Mr. Bilal Rizvi, Exchange Coordinator talked on different educational programs for students as well as for faculty including undergraduate scholarship, Fulbright scholarship, Global UGRAD program, Sister 2 Sister program and others. Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences of SMIU welcomed the guests.
On the occasion question-answer session was also held. In the end, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai gave away shields of SMIU to the guests. Mr. Ali Chauhan, Education Advisor of US Consulate, deans, chairpersons, faculty and officers of SMIU attended the session.
