Sindh minister warns against promotion of linguistic politics KARACHI: Provincial Minister for information Saeed Ghani has warned that once again linguistic politics was being promoted in Sindh and added that after the amendment in the local bodies, new stories are being cooked up as opposition has not read this bill. Saeed Ghani added that amendments to the local law have not increased reduced the powers given in 2013 law, rather power to LB have been increased.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister for information Saeed Ghani said that the registration of deaths, births and marriages was given to UC and it was written in error that these power have been given to DMCs.

He said that the opposition demanded to create a towns, so we did it.

The provincial minister said the minister has been made chairman of water and sewerage because some foreign funded projects are underway.

Local representatives have been empowered in more than 10 departments of the Sindh provincial government.

He said the amendment to secret ballot for the mayor was accepted and acknowledged the need for the elected member of the council to elect the mayor.

The provincial minister said that once again linguistic politics was being carried out in Sindh. False remarks have been made against the Chief Minister’s speech. There were no MQM members in the Assembly. We have majority in Sindh Assembly and we will pass law.

Saeed Ghani said that those who do not tolerate local government are critical of PPP. The PTI which had passed more than 30 bills in half an hour in the joint session is now facing criticism of Sindh government.

The media and civil society have a responsibility to protect the people of Sindh from the conspiracy to fight against each other.
