SHC issues notices to federal secretary water, chairman IRSA

petitioner submitted the details of water supply statistics in the court
KARCHI, May 23,2022- Sindh High Court – SHC on Monday issued notices to federal secretary water resources, chairman Indus River Authority – IRSA, and secretary irrigation Sindh and sought reply from the concerned departments.
Sindh High Court is hearing water crisis case in the province.
The petitioner submitted the details of water supply statistics in the court. The court directed the chairman of IRSA to personally look into the matter.
The position taken in the petition is that there is a water crisis in Sindh. The province is not getting its share of water, said petitioner’s Advocate Khalid Noor.
Water emergency declared in tail-end areas of Sindh
There is neither drinking water in the province and nor water to irrigate crops, said lawyer Khalid Noor Khoso and added that due to water scarcity animals are dying.
He took plea that Water theft and misuse of power should be investigated by transparent inquiry or judicial commission.
The water crisis is intensifying. The matter should be resolved immediately, petitioner said.
