Schools in Sindh closed as fourth wave hits province

KARACHI- Jul 14,2021 – Fourth wave of coronavirus hit the Sindh province of Pakistan where due to the rising number of cases, schools across the province have been closed once again.

This decision was taken at the meeting of the Provincial Covid-19 Task Force chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

It was decided at the meeting that schools across the province from class I to VIII would be closed from Friday, while educational institutions of class IX and above would also be closed except for examinations.

Indoor dinning and picnic spots

The meeting decided that indoor dining would be closed from coming night, amusement parks, water parks, sea view, Hawke’s Bay, Kenjhar Lake would be closed from Friday, while cinemas, indoor gyms and indoor sports would also be closed.

Rate of new corona cases

The Sindh Health Department informed the meeting that the rate of new corona cases in the province has reached 7.4%.

Expressing concern, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that if the Corona cases have exceeded 5%, it is a dangerous situation.

During the meeting, Health Secretary Kazim Jatoi said that a total of 16,262 corona tests were conducted in the province out of which 1,201 cases were detected. At present, 837 patients are in hospitals, now most of the patients are in government hospitals.

Cases in Karachi

He said that the rate of new cases in Karachi was 17.11% on July 13.

According to the weekly report, 21% cases were reported in East District, 15% in South, 12% in Central and 8% in Korangi.

Expressing concern over the country’s largest city, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the situation in Karachi was very bad.

Vaccine

It was also informed in the meeting that so far 58,70,991 doses of Corona vaccine have been received across the province, while 44,65,908 doses have been used so far.

It may be noted that the number of corona virus patients in Sindh has once again increased to 349,586 from other provinces, while the total death toll has risen to 5,621.

Corona situation in Pakistan

Cases of Corona virus of Indian Delta variant have increased in Pakistan, the rate of positive corona cases in the country has gone above 4%.

Pakistan has reached the 30th position in the list of corona patients.

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 1,980 more cases of corona virus have been reported in Pakistan in the last 24 hours, with 24 more people losing their lives in the face of this deadly epidemic. A further 738 corona patients recovered, while the positive case rate was 4.17%.

The total number of people dying from corona virus across the country has reached 22,642 while the total number of corona patients has reached 978,847.
