SC seeks reply from Sindh govt in promotion of officers of Grade 16 and above

KARACHI, (June 15, 2021) The Supreme Court of Pakistan Karachi registry sought reply from the Sindh government till Thursday in the issue of making officers permanent of Grade 16 above without Public Service Commission.

The court observed on Tuesday that, it is against the law to stay above grade 16 without a public service commission.

If contract officers are to be made permanent, it can be done through the Public Service Commission, the court said,

The case of contract officers of grade 16 and above is quite different, the court further said.

If the Sindh government may do appointments as it pleases, but the court will decide according to the law, the court said.

The petitioner pleaded that the Sindh High Court had declared appointment without Public Service Commission illegal.
