SC directs high courts to refrain from in interfering in affairs of universities
ISLAMABAD, Jan 14,20022- The Supreme Court directed the High Courts to exercise caution in interfering in the affairs of universities and said that the High Courts should refrain from interfering in the policies and rules of universities.
The Supreme Court, while approving the appeal of Khyber Medical University, quashed the decision of Peshawar High Court.
Aimal Khan had approached the Peshawar High Court against the decision of the university. The Peshawar High Court had reduced Aimal Khan’s disqualification from three years to one year.
The court said in its order that Aimal Khan had admitted the mistake of appearing in the paper instead of the psychology student.
The Supreme Court in its order said that apart from law and fundamental rights, other matters of universities should not be interfered with.
The apex court said that the academic experts of the universities can make better decisions regarding the students, the job of the judges is to decide according to the law and not on personal likes and dislikes.
