Request of VC of Federal Urdu University to celebrate Eid at govt expense rejected

Federal Minister of Education Rana has rejected the application of Vice Chancellor Federal Urdu University, who wished to continue online work by celebrating Eid in Canada and America at government expense.

While in his absence, Senior Dean of Fine Arts, Dr. Ziauddin, has been appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor, a notification has also been issued.

The Joint Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education Muhammad Akhtar Iqbal has said in his letter that as the Pro-Chancellor of the Federal Urdu University for Arts, Science and Technology, the Federal Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Rana Tanveer expressed his displeasure.

He further said that the Federal Minister has instructed to avoid such inappropriate actions and in future to follow the procedures for foreign visits issued by the Cabinet Division, a copy of which has been sent by letter. In the letter, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ata has been instructed to join the university on July 16.

Two students’ organizations clash in Urdu University

It should be remembered that Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Athar Atta of Federal Urdu University, a Canadian citizen, went to Canada to celebrate Eid for 20 days at the government expense.

Prof. Dr. Athar Ata had made a pretext the collaboration with 6 universities of Canada and America for this visit and requested the NOC from the President saying that he will perform online duties during the visit, therefore no Acting VC should not be appointed. However, his request was rejected and his leave period was also shortened.
