Rehana Leghari urges joint panel of govt & opposition MPAs for women, children’s rights

KARACHI (June 8, 2021) Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Rehana Leghari has said that women still not only run peace and rights movements but also play their role alongside men in all fields and fronts but they are not included in the work for the promotion and establishment of peace.

Violence against women is largely voiced against them, but not in the decision-making process of peace building.

Deputy Speaker Rehana Laghari was talking to a delegation of social organization which called on her, here on Tuesday.

While the role of women in the promotion of peace, including the training of society, is unforgettable. He expressed these views in his office today on the topic of the role of women in peace building.

The representative of the social organization Syed Kausar Abbas briefed the Deputy Speaker that a program is being launched for women MPs, educators, doctors, artists, mass media and women from other walks of life and conventions will be held in different cities.

On the occasion, Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari said that a joint panel of government and opposition women MPAs is needed for legislation on women’s and children’s rights, however she said, most of the legislation on women and children was passed by the Sindh Assembly. She further said that women are the best reflection of the society.
