PPP and ANP delegations meet Chief Election Commissioner
ISLAMABAD Sep 15,2021- A delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) met with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja at the Election Commission of Pakistan office here on Wednesday.
The delegation included PPP leaders Nayyar Bukhari, Farhatullah Babar, Sherry Rehman, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, ANP Senators Hidayatullah and Aimal Wali Khan.
A joint delegation of PPP and ANP also spoke to the media after meeting the Chief Election Commissioner.
Nayyar Bukhari said that ANP and PPP delegations have come to support the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said that the government and the ministers should not use insulting language against the head of the constitutional body, the government is clashing with the democratic institutions. “We will support the Election Commission at every forum”, he said.
Nayyar Bukhari said that the position of the Election Commission of Pakistan on the new legislation is in accordance with the constitution and law, evoting machine EVM or other amendments are against the constitution, political parties have a very strong stake in the election.
He also said that holding elections is the responsibility of the Election Commission, it is not the job of the government or any other body, we will support the Election Commission inside and outside Parliament.
Sherry Rehman said that today is the day of democracy, the government is in conflict with democratic institutions, political parties and media.
