PMLN files resolution for seeking impeachment of President
President Alvi returns Judicial Reforms Bill 2023 to Parliament for revision
PML-N has filed a resolution in the Senate seeking impeachment motion against President Arif Alvi.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision on the ruling of the Deputy Speaker, PML-N Senator Dr Afnanullah Khan filed a resolution in the Senate.
The resolution said that under Article 6 of the constitution, action should be taken against former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, President Arif Alvi and Qasim Suri.
The text of the resolution said that impeachment proceedings should be initiated against President Arif Ali.
It may be noted that the Supreme Court on the occasion of the no-confidence motion filed by the opposition parties against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, issued by then Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Qasim Suri under Article 5 (1) of the Constitution. A detailed judgment has been issued in the case against the suo moto.
The 86-page detailed judgment was penned by Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, who said that he was not satisfied with the argument on external interference.
